A New Home, A New Chapter

A Note From Jody

I have been looking forward to writing this one. After years of building this practice around women who deserved better care, more time, and a provider who actually listened, KS Women’s Health Clinic has a home of its own.

We are opening at 215 S. Andover Rd., Suite E, Andover, Kansas, and I could not be more proud of what this represents.

The new space is quiet, private, and easy to find. There is dedicated signage, a calm environment, and a simpler, more focused environment with just one other provider in the building. It is exactly what I always wanted this clinic to feel like.

For my existing patients, thank you. You trusted me before I had my own space, and that means everything. For anyone finding us for the first time, welcome. This is exactly the kind of place I wish I had found years ago as a patient myself.

This Month’s Women’s Health Check-In Focuses On:

This month we are covering two topics that reflect exactly who this clinic is for:

  • women dealing with pain they have been told to accept
  • young women standing at the beginning of something new who deserve a provider relationship built on trust from the very start

Clinic Corner

KS Women’s Health Clinic will officially open at our new location: 215 S. Andover Rd., Suite E, Andover, KS 67002

We will begin seeing patients on August 11. The new space is shared only with a chiropractic practice, which means a quieter, more private experience than many women are used to in a medical setting. The building is easy to find, well marked, and designed to feel like a place you actually want to come back to.

Appointment availability is limited each month by design. If you have been thinking about scheduling, now is a good time.

Pelvic Pain and Painful Sex: You Do Not Have to Just Live With It

This is one of the most common things I hear from women, and one of the most undertreated.

“It has always been a little uncomfortable.”
“I just assumed this was normal.”
“My last provider told me to use more lubricant.”

Pelvic pain and painful sex are not things you should have to accept. They have causes, and they have solutions. The problem is that too many women are dismissed before anyone takes the time to find out what is actually going on.

Common causes worth exploring:

  • Hormonal changes affecting vaginal tissue, particularly during perimenopause and menopause
  • Pelvic floor tension or dysfunction
  • Endometriosis or uterine fibroids
  • Genitourinary syndrome of menopause, known as GSM
  • Skin conditions affecting vulvar tissue
  • Scar tissue from prior procedures or childbirth

What a thorough visit looks like:

A focused visit for pelvic pain starts with a full conversation before anything else. Understanding when the pain occurs, how long it has been happening, and what makes it better or worse tells me far more than a rushed exam ever could.

Jody’s Practical Starting Points

  • Pain with sex is never a normal baseline. It is a symptom.
  • Over the counter lubricants and moisturizers can offer short term relief but do not address underlying tissue or structural changes.
  • Hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options both exist. The right one depends on your full picture.
  • If you have been told nothing is wrong but something still feels off, a second opinion is always reasonable.

You deserve a provider who takes this seriously. That is what a 60-minute visit is for. Find out more about our GYN visits here.

A New Chapter Deserves the Right Provider

This past month I had the pleasure of connecting with some incredible young women at the Wichita Bridal Expo. Women standing at the beginning of something new, whether that is marriage, a new relationship, or simply a season of life where their health decisions feel more intentional than ever before.

It got me thinking about something I believe deeply. The earlier a woman finds a provider she truly trusts, the better her health is over time. Not because she needs more appointments, but because having someone who knows her history, listens without rushing, and gives her real answers changes everything about how she approaches her own care.

For young women, that relationship often starts with one of these visits:

  • A first GYN exam or annual wellness visit
  • A birth control consultation to find the right fit for her body and her life
  • Preconception counseling before she is ready to start trying
  • A conversation about cycle irregularities, painful periods, or something that has never quite felt right

These are not small appointments. They are the foundation of a lifetime of informed, confident health decisions. If you are a young woman who has been putting off establishing care, or a mom whose daughter is ready for her first visit, I would be honored to be that provider. There is no rush, no judgment, and no seven-minute appointment where you leave with more questions than answers. Learn more about our birth control options here.
